Agasthiya Maharishi was an illustrious sage of Hinduism. According to Indian beliefs, he was a notable and influential scholar who held expertise in diverse languages of the Indian subcontinent. He and his wife Lopamudra were the distinguished authors of some of the hymns in Rigveda and other Vedic literature.

Agasthiya Maharishi has appeared in many historical books and other works, including the Ramayana and Mahabharata. He was one of the revered Saptarishi in the Vedic texts and is also recognized for his work in Tamil literature. Known as one of the Tamil Siddhas in the Shaivism tradition, Agasthiya was the inventor of the early grammar in the Tamil language, Agattiyam. He played a revolutionary role in the development of Tampraparniyan medicine.

Sage Agasthiya has been mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana with his ashram being located on the banks of Godavari River. In the Ramayana, it has been shown that Agasthiya and Lopamudra were living in the Dandaka forest, on the southern drops of the Vindhya Mountains. Rama had acclaimed Agasthiya as someone who could do what god would find impossible. He had asked Vindhya Mountain to bring itself down so that others could pass over it easily.

In Valmiki Ramayan, it is also mentioned that Asuras had hidden inside the sea so that the Devas would not kill them. At that time, Devas requested Agasthiya Maharishi for his help. He drank the water of the whole ocean with his mystic powers, and Devas killed the Asuras.

In Mahabharata, Agasthiya Maharishi has been described as a sage who had massive powers of consumption and digestion.

There are some resemblances and differences between what has been mentioned in the Northern and Southern literature about Agasthiya. In both the literature, it has been stated that Agasthiya traveled from north to south.

It is also believed that Agasthiya Maharishi was one of the 18 sages who developed the concept of Nadi Astrology. Out of them, he was the most senior and notable, and under his power and guidance, the 18 sages researched human life and foresaw their birth in line with their karmic debt.

Agasthiya Maharishi has made significant contributions in the fields of medicine, yoga, Tamil grammar, martial arts, architecture, Nadi astrology, Kaya Kalpa, a. k. a., anti-aging therapy, and more.

The 18 Siddhas or sages who developed Nadi astrology are Sri Agasthiyar, Shri Pathanjali, Kamala Muni, Ramdevar, Korakkar, Thirumoolar, Kuthambai, Edaikadar, Dhanvantri, Sundranandar, Konganar, Pambaati, Sattamuni, Valmiki, Nandishwarar, Machamuni, Karuvoorar, Bhogar. They have 8 powers, such as Anima, Karima, Mahima, Lahima, Prapthy, Eshathuvam, Vashithuvam, and Pragashiyam.

Nadi Astrology is a very ancient form of astrology and it is originated in Southern parts of India. According to age-old descriptions, Nadi Astrology can tell about the past, present, and future of any human using the ancient text, which is written on palm leaves by Shri Agasthiyar Maharishi. It is widely believed that the great ancient Hindu sages had the power to look into the past, present, and future of all humans and hence recorded everything on tree-barks and palm leaves in ancient Tamil scripts, which can only be deciphered by expert Nadi astrologers. These sages had the power to look into the lives of people who were dead, living, and those who were yet to be born.

How does Nadi Astrology work?

As compared to other types of Astrology, Nadi Astrology does not make predictions. It has a distinctive and powerful record of every individual’s past, present, and future life, written down in Palm Leaves called Olai Chuvadi. These leaves were rightly passed down to the disciples by the saint, also known as Trikala Gnjani. They were the ones who know all about the past, present, and future timelines.

First, a Nadi astrologer will take your thumbprint on a paper. For males, it would be a right-hand thumb, and for females, it would be a left-hand thumb on a piece of paper. It is done to find the palm leaves’ bundle matching your thumbprint. Once the matching bundle is found, the Nadi astrologer will read you each palm leaves in the bundle.

Benefits of Nadi Astrology

Nadi Astrology can help you add value to your life. It gives an insight into how your previous birth links to your current life. Furthermore, it tells you how you can make up for the remaining karma of your previous birth. Deeds done in the past birth can haunt you in your current life.

Along with writing about your past, present, and future life, the ancient Hindu Sages also suggested a list of remedial actions to help you get back on a favorable path. It gives you a chance to correct your past mistakes. More often than not, depending on the nature of your deeds, you might simply need to make an offering at a specific vortex such as places of worship to remove the negative energy and find the right path.

The palm leaves are not only for Indian people or those following the Hindi religion. They are also for people from other nations, religions, and creeds. Whether you find your leaf or not, it will depend on your destiny. If you are meant to find it, you will.
